A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Kingsley Wenenda Wali, has challenged the Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike-led state government to spread developmental projects across the 23 local government areas of the state.
Wali, who made the call when he appeared on a national television, which was monitored in Port Harcourt, said the state government developmental projects should also include the Greater Port Harcourt City and the Trans-Kalabari Road.
He said: “I see nothing wrong with projects sited in Obio -Akpor and Port Harcourt, because every member of society use them and not only Obio- Akpor people.
“But to avoid the complans, government should have given attention to greater Port Harcourt and the kalagbari ring road.
“Government of Rivers State has not really done well in the spread of projects, for instance, the Greater Port Harcourt that cuts across other local government areas should have been given attention to, as well as reach out to other areas in the state.”
Wali, who is also the Convener of Unity House Foundation (UHF), a good governance advocacy group, said although there is nothing wrong with the state government requesting for an N18 Billion loan, the citizens need to know what the loan was meant for
He said: “There’s a great gap between the government and the people, as it concerns communication. Government cannot continuously act like the citizens opinion don’t matter in governance.
“The citizens deserve to know what the loans collected by government will be used for, when and if that is properly done, I see nothing wrong in government collecting loans to build infrastructures in Rivers State.”
