The secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, made this known during a joint briefing held yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, saying about 38,047 households in Kebbi State will benefit from palliatives under the coalition led by Dangote group.
According to him, the benefiting households would receive rice, pasta macaroni, refined salt, sugar, spaghetti, flour and indomie noodles in bags and cartons.
He remarked that 24 trucks loaded with different items such as bags of rice, cartons of indomie and suffragette sugar and salts were received by the government for immediate distribution to the households across the 21 local government areas of the state, adding a committee has been constituted for the distribution.
Also Speaking, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Hassan Mohammed Shalla, urged journalists to avoid diversion, saying government has set up committees to go round all 225 wards in the state to distribute the palliatives.
He warned the prospective beneficiaries to avoid selling or destroying the commodities that would be given to them from the CACOVID-19 palliatives group.
According to him, civil society groups, nongovernmental organizations and other private organizations would be carried along during the distribution exercise across the local government councils of the state.
