Retired Deputy Controller of Immigration, Ime Unaowoh Nta gave reasons why the award of honour conferred on him by management of Institute of Human and Natural Resources is dedicated to president Muhammadu Buhari.
Nta gave the reasons while fielding questions from journalists in Calabar on why he dedicated the award to PMB instead of his kinsmen.
He said that dedication of the award to the President was in commemoration of the sustenance of fight against corruption launched by President Buhari who is determined to sanitize the country notwithstanding whose ox is gored.
The one time best passport control officer in the country to an extend that the Controller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (CG NIS ) also conferred him with award of honor, stated that with PMB on the saddle, he is very sure that the country would can soon return to its glory despites the numerous challenges to cope with.
The retired DCI maintained that as one who had fought corruption to a stand still in virtually all the places of his primary assignments, when he served the nation as immigration officer, he didn’t need to do any consultation with any one before he dedicates the the meritorious award to the president who to him, believes in almost in same ideals which he also holds.
“That is why am hated sometimes in most climes simply because I don’t compromise even now that I am out of service I still raise alarm when need be. “That is whenever things go the way there are not to go”.
Other reasons advanced by the ex-immigration officer for dedication of his award to the President is to eulogize Mr. President for his innovative vision of “Ease of Doing Business” which afforded him opportunity to be rated as best Passport Control Officer in the nation between 2017-2019 whereby the ex-immigration officer made it possible for international passport to be issued to Nigerians within 24hrs, without touting and extortion of all form, giving him the courage to join the fray with the president in fighting corruption in public service.
The former SA on security matters to the then minister of Aviation stressed that without the president’s determination to deal squarely with the cankerwarm of corruption, notwithstanding the abuses rained on him, Nigeria would have been grounded by now!.
The DCI averred that because the president’s integrity isn’t at stake but rather as immaculate among other virtues, the president still have what it takes to revamp the economy of the nation.
He commended authorities of public complaints commission for standing up for him through out the period that he faced persecution by some forces who saw him as a threat in the service because of the ideals that he holds relating to corruption in public service and urged civil servants who facing persecution to make use of the commission.
