Member representing Ovia Federal constituency, Hon Dennis Idahosa (APC-Edo), Wednesday said members of his constituency are ready to vote massively for the APC Governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in next week Governorship poll.
The Federal lawmaker also raised the alarm that plans have been perfected by some unnamed individuals to malign his name as part of their strategy to win his constituency in the September 19th Governorship election in Edo.
Idahosa made this known in a press statement by his media aide, Mr Friday Aghedo, and made available to newsmen in Benin.
He said while he remain undaunted in his quest to deliver his constituency for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the poll, he warned those behind the plan to desist as he would take any legal action against anybody who is set out to tarnish his Image.
Idahosa who is the Chairman House Commitee on Legislative Compliance, stressed that election is all about contestation of ideas and not attack on personalities.
According to him, “I find it disheartening that people will go to the lent of attacking personalities rather than go out to sell their party and candidate’s manifesto to the electorate.
“I have been going round to talk to my people on our plans for the State when we emerge victorious on September 19, but obviously, some persons are not comfortable with this and have set out to sell all manners of falsehood to the people about me.
“Only recently, an allegation of my convoy killing somebody after my campaign in my area was sold to the people. I didn’t know they were ready to go this length.
“While I have already instructed by lawyers to institute legal action against the persons responsible for this lies, i want to appeal to others to desist from further act as i will not take it kindly with anyone who does that.
“Election is not a do or die affair; we must not take it to the extreme just to get people to listen to us, nor do we need to kill, maim or tarnish ones image to sell our candidates.”
On the chances of the APC, he said he remained optimistic on victory for the party.
He said the APC do not only have a saleable candidate in the person of Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, but the legacies Mr Adams Oshiomhole left as Governor of the State would work for rhe party.
“Ize-Iyamu is not only popular amongst the people, but he has been a master stroke when it comes to the politics of Edo, his popularity cut across the entire State; among women, youths and the traditional institution,” he said.
