Massive defection yesterday hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Potiskum local government area of Yobe State, as scores of its members dumped the party for the governing party, All Progressives Congress (APC)
LEADERSHIP gathered that, PDP suffered a setback following the defection of over seven thousand people into the APC in Potiskum LGA.
The defectors who were led by Alhaji Saleh Jauro (Santurakin Fika) a chieftain of party, described the PDP as house divided against itself with irreconcilable difference, saying that, as it the last couple of years there where at least two camps with each group aimed to field candidates for 2019 general elections.
The defectors were received by the state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Adamu Chilariye, who said APC in Yobe State would carry them along in its programme, adding that they will never regret leaving the PDP as the party has nothing to offer the people of the state.
He commended governor Ibrahim Gaidam for evenly transforming the state from 2011 to date nothing that, “more people will soon join the APC and we will collectively work to ensure the success of the party at all levels during the forthcoming general election.”
