No fewer than 96,132 persons have been granted start-up loans in Kasina State under Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s Economic Empowerment Scheme in the last three and a half years.
The governor made this disclosure yesterday at the public presentation of two publications on the achievements of his administration entitled: “Our Restoration Struggles, Our Challenges, Our Legacies and Our Futures” and the “Restoration Agenda11: Strategic Consolidation” as part of the 2019 campaign programme of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Katsina.
He revealed that small Business Vocational Empowerment Loans were given to 49, 020 beneficiaries while additional Small and Medium Enterprises and State Cooperative Loans were given to a total of 15,756 persons.
“Empowerment loans were disbursed to 7000 members of the organised trade associations and 1,890 disabled persons across the state. N20,000 (each) was granted as loan to 1,816 members of faith based organisations in the state,” said Masari.
The present APC administration, he stated, had constructed 443.4 km of new surfaced dressed roads connecting 43 towns and villages besides the rehabilitation and upgrading of 307.6km of road projects connecting 27 towns and villages.
“In addition, 34 new rural feeder roads with a total length of 461km are being constructed across the 34 local government areas of the state in order to further open up the rural communities for enhanced socio-economic progress,” he said.
The chairman of the Katsina APC 2019 campaign council and Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Mustapaha Inuwa, noted that the first term mandate of the present administration had been almost accomplished by the Masari-led administration.
