Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria) has congratulated Lt. Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd.) on his 88th birthday, stressing that his life of service continues to illuminate Nigeria’s path towards progress.

Gen. Danjuma, a former Chief of Army Staff, was Minister of Defence during the Obasanjo-led civilian administration.

A letter by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, congratulating the elder statesman, stated that Gen. Danjuma’s extraordinary journey, defined by courage, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to national unity, remains an enduring source of inspiration.

“Through your distinguished military service, principled leadership, and impactful philanthropy, you have touched lives and communities in ways that cannot be measured.

“Your commitment to justice, human development, and educational advancement places you among the rare individuals whose legacy transcends generations”, it said.

They also said that as an ABU’s esteemed Honorary Award recipient, the university took immense pride in celebrating the elder statesman.

He explained that Gen Danjuma’s values mirrored the very ideals Ahmadu Bello University strived to uphold: integrity, excellence, resilience, and service to humanity.

“To our students, you represent a model of purposeful leadership; to our staff, you embody the spirit of national contributions; to the university management, you remain a cherished part of our institutional history.

“Many stand taller because your life has paved the way. Many dream because your example proves that greatness is achieved through courage and compassion”, they stated.

Prof. Ahmed prayed to God to continue blessing Gen. Danjuma with good health, inner peace, and renewed strength, and wished him many years ahead filled with joy and fulfilment.
