Bauchi State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anthill and Bird Nest Engineering Ltd, Abuja, for the establishment of a modern Livestock Cattle Centre at the Galambi Range in Bauchi local government area.
At the ceremony yesterday, the commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr Bala Musa Lukshi, said N12,976,196,121.86 had been earmarked for the project
He said the project was designed to strengthen livestock production, improve animal health, and enhance community engagement through a comprehensive Social Responsibility Service (SRS) package.
He added the project is being introduced as a pilot initiative in only two states, Bauchi and Kano.
Dr. Lukshi expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his continued support to the relatively new ministry, noting that the administration remains committed to meeting the project’s objectives and transforming the livestock sector.
For his part, the project manager of Anthill and Bird Nest Engineering assured the state government of a top-quality job, emphasising the company’s strong track record in delivering large-scale agricultural and infrastructural projects.
He stated that the planned Livestock Cattle Centre will be built in line with international best practices in design, construction, and sustainability.
According to him, the facility will serve as a model for modern livestock management in Nigeria, incorporating innovative technologies to boost productivity, ensure animal health, and foster improved relationships with the host community.
He added that the centre is expected to stimulate economic activity and create long-term opportunities for residents.
The ceremony was attended by the acting permanent secretary, Alhaji Yakubu Dahuwa, and other principal officers of the ministry, as contained in a statement issued by Abubakar Ladan, Information Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Livestock Development.
