British singer and multiple Grammy Award winner, Adele, is reportedly set to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s upcoming film adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel, ‘Cry to Heaven’.

According to reports, the 37-year-old superstar will join a star-studded ensemble in the project, which Ford will write, direct, and produce under his Fade to Black production company.

Set in 18th-century Italy, ‘Cry to Heaven’ tells the story of a Venetian nobleman and a castrati singer from Calabria, both striving to make their mark in the competitive world of opera. The film is expected to explore themes of identity, ambition, and artistry against a richly historical backdrop.

The adaptation is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with principal photography scheduled to begin in mid-January 2026. The production team is targeting a late fall 2026 release, according to industry reports.

The film is said to feature an impressive lineup of talent, including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Thandiwe Newton, Hunter Schafer, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, and Lux Pascal, among others.

This marks Tom Ford’s third feature film following his critically acclaimed works ‘A Single Man’ and ‘Nocturnal Animals”. Both films earned widespread praise for their visual style, emotional depth, and performances, with ‘A Single Man’ earning Colin Firth an Oscar nomination and ‘Nocturnal Animals’ winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.

For Adele, this project represents a new creative chapter. The globally acclaimed singer, known for her chart-topping hits “Easy On Me,” “Oh My God,” and “I Drink Wine” from her 2021 album, has largely kept a low profile.

While her representatives were yet to confirm the casting officially, the film would mark her first major acting role, adding another milestone to her career.
