The family of late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke has rejected the Coroner inquest ordered by the government of Osun State to unravel the circumstances that led to the sudden death of the serving senator.
Flanked by siblings and family members, the brother of the deceased, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke at a press conference he addressed yesterday at Ede, described the commission of inquiry as kangaroo.
The family maintained that it gathered from reliable sources that the outcome of the inquiry is already predetermined by the state and designed to serve its (government) own interest.
“We have been reliably informed by credible sources that the outcome of the ‘Kangaroo inquest’ is already predetermined by the state and designed to serve its own interest with distorted facts and misinformation which will clearly not be in the interest of the good people of Osun in general and the Adeleke family in particular.
“We have therefore as a family resolved not to participate nor cooperate with the Kangaroo styled panel set up by the state government, as the panel was clearly set up to serve the state’s own political interest and ultimate establishment of its own self serving ‘facts’.
The family also urged the people of Osun State to discountenance the panel adding that the inquest was an attempt to create government’s alternative facts.
Adeleke asked the state government to explain why it was in a hurry to order a Coroner’s inquest when the report of the autopsy ordered by the family is yet to be delivered to the family.
He, however, warned the concerned pathologists of the consequence of delivering of the report of the autopsy to anyone other than the family.
“We wish to reiterate in the strongest of terms that the report of the autopsy ordered by the family must be released to no one else other than the Adeleke family.
“To do otherwise by the medical team that is conducting the autopsy will be tantamount to gross professional misconduct actionable with appropriate sanctions in law.”
