With its covetous position as the hospitality capital and most peaceful state in Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State is addictive to guests, tourists and investors alike, says its Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
Ememobong stated this on Monday while playing host to the management of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA Channel 12, Uyo, who paid him a courtesy call in his office.
Comrade Ememobong reiterated that, other attractions of the State include: salivating cuisines which the state is known for nationally, in addition to having an easy and safe air- route entry, through the Ibomair.
The Commissioner, therefore, on behalf of the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and the good people of Akwa Ibom, welcomed the new General Manager of NTA 12 Uyo, Nkechi Iheme to Uyo and by extension, the entire state.
The State spokeman encouraged the new General Manager to strive to work harder in order to leave the station better than how she met it for the interest of the people of Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria at large.
Acknowledging that the Nigeria Television Authority has the capacity to shape the thoughts of Nigerians through their stations in all the states of the federation, Comrade Ememobong urged the organization to re-zig its programmes, taking into consideration local contents to attract the locals.
Recalling such soap opera like the New Masquerade, Cock crow at dawn etc, the State Information helmsman said, with localised programmes during breakfast Programmes, the Nigeria Television Authority will gain more patronage than relaying mostly national programmes across the state stations that appear foreign and less attractive to the local viewing public.
He urged the new General Manager to work hard enough to make the station better than how she met it and pledged the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the management of NTA 12 Uyo to positively change the fortunes of the station.
Speaking earlier, the new General Manager of NTA (channel 12) Uyo, Nkechi Iheme, had said the courtesy call was embarked on by her team for familiarisation as well as seeking a common ground geared at a collective goal of moving Akwa Ibom state forward.
The event had in attendance a cross-section of management staff of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
