Police in Osun State have arrested eight suspected kidnappers at Omo Ijesha village in the state after allegedly killing four victims.
A statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi said the suspected kidnappers were arrested following the kidnap of a 65-year-old woman, Mrs. Akiishi Catherine in Benue state who was murdered by the suspects.
Yemisi said the suspected kidnappers abducted and murdered the woman in Benue State and fled to Osun to avoid arrest by the police.
She further disclosed that the suspects also confessed to have murdered three other victims in their previous operations before moving to Osun.
The police spokesperson said the suspects had also planned to use Osun State as a safe haven for the negotiation and collection of ransom before they were arrested.
She identified the suspects as Orikashima David, aka Cash money (22), Teryange Demenogo aka Small (22) Terngu Tortindi aka Kareen (25), Anawuese Akough (19), Mbalumulum Kaorga (18) Comfort Terdoo (22) Michael Msendoo (19) Aondoaseer Terver (21) all from Benue State.
The statement read in part: “The CP, while commending his men for a job well done, reassured citizens that there will be no hiding place for criminals in the state. He notes that the new policing vision of the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Usman Alkali Baba, is already assisting the command in redefining its strategies toward combating crimes in the State.
“The CP further calls for the support and collaboration of all the citizens in the State as all hands must be on deck to rid the State of all criminal elements threatening the socio-economic peace, security and safety of the people.”
