As part of effort to discourage defacing and littering of public structures and edifice, Gombe State Government has warned that henceforth, anyone caught pasting political posters would be arrested and sent to prison.
This warning was issued yesterday by the state Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo during a Sallah lunch with his appointees and political associates.
He warns, “I have directed the Commissioner of Police to henceforth arrest and prosecute anyone caught pasting political posters in and around Gombe within or around any government or public edifice.”
The warning, according to the Governor, became necessary considering the manner some politicians decided to take advantage of the Sallah celebration to announce their political ambition with posters littering the streets.
“This is a period of celebration and not time for politicking, those nursing any ambition should wait for the right moment.”
Although the Governor did not mention any name, major streets of Gombe were yesterday flooded with posters of Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, as it dotted almost all public structures, roundabouts and commercial buildings.
The posters with the inscription “Kwairanga for governor 2019” were carrying the logo of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Dankwambo who thanked God for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and Sallah celebration urged residents of the state to live in peace with one another.
