The newly elected president of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, has promised to give the necessary encouragement to para-badminton for the next four years.
Orbih , speaking in an interview after his victory, said: “We are going to give para-badminton the necessary encouragement and try to lift the game. Whatever we’ll be doing for the game of badminton, we’ll make sure that para-badminton is not left behind. That I can assure you.
“We are going to hit the ground running, plan properly and have our clear-cut programmes. So, I’ll say we’ll give it another two to three years. You cannot produce champions in one, two or three months. It is a process and we are going to start immediately we are sworn in,” he added.
Orbih further revealed that the federation would go back to primary and secondary schools, in order to groom champions.
“We are definitely going back to the schools, which is grassroots development. We must catch them young, nuture them and turn them into champions,” he said.
He vowed to run an all-inclusive government in which all the board members would be carried along.
