Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu has counseled parents to guard against wards that engage in illicit drugs in the society.
He also commended the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) for its enlightenment campaign against drug abuse in the society.
Adamu, who promised to support them to achieve their set goals, noted that parents have pivotal role to play in preventing their wards from indulging in the menace.
The emir lamented a situation whereby many delinquent children go astray due to lack of home training.
YALI had earlier appealed to the emir to warn politicians against engaging youths in thuggery and drug abuse.
The group’s North East coordinator, Mr. Bobo Benson Bagwiba, made the appeal when they paid an advocacy visit to the monarch yesterday at his palace in Bauchi.
Bagwiba noted with concern that some youth become drug abusers as a result of their engagement by politicians as thugs and vanguards during electioneering campaigns.
