The local government congresses of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) which held in Benue State was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere with the party, in a consensus, returning all its existing Exco to their positions.

Our correspondent who monitored the congresses in Tarka and Makurdi local governments areas report that though materials and officials arrived late at the party secretariats, party supporters conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

Speaking to newsmen, the chairman of Tarka LGA, Hon. Anthony Sende, who noted that the party had mobilised all party members for the congress said, “What we are doing is affirmation of old Exco members because they have performed creditable.”

He said the APC leaders had earlier given directives to the National Executive Committee for elective congresses and that of the North Central Zonal leadership that the former party executives be retained at all levels.

“Although there is a directive that all the former exco be maintained but where there is crises and people are not agreeing with one another,  there should be elections but where people agree like for us in Tarka, we are returning all our Exco unopposed,” Sende said.
