National Chairman of United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie has announced the decision of the leadership of the party to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming 2019 general elections.

Chekwas in company of Chief Executive Officer of Stanel Group, Dr Stanley Uzochukwu and other members of the Party’s National Working Committee disclosed this during a visit to Buhari at the State House in Abuja recently.

On his part, the Stanel Group Boss, Uzochukwu also, in the interest of Igbo community, supported the adoption of President Buhari by the UPP as their presidential candidate in 2019 general elections. His endorsement of President Buhari was strictly based on his achievements in the South East region.

According to UPP Chairman, “the National Working Committee (NWC) acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), after extensive consultations with all stakeholders in the part, wish to announce to the Nigerians public that President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) has been endorsed and adopted as our presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential election.

A painstaking evaluation of all the options and in consideration of the sincerity, uprightness, and the credibility of President Muhammadu Buhari which has brought to bear in his approach to governance for the last three and a half years.

Our resolution to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari as our candidate has been made easy for us by the leading opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who elected former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as their presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential election.”
