At least one person has been confirmed dead at the weekend in a collapsed building in Asaba, Oshimili South LGA of Delta State.
It was also learnt that four other persons including the landlord, a 79-year-old, were said to be in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital in Asaba, after they were brought out of rubbles.
It was gathered that the one storey building carved in on Saturday following a thunderstorm which affected the foundation of the building.
Sources who confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP, said the building has structural defects which may have caused the collapse as soon as the heavy rain came hard on it.
Another source alleged that substandard construction materials were used in the construction of the building without proper supper vision by professional.
It was gathered that men of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the Oshimili south local government Council Chairman, Comrade Uche Osadebe, were on ground on rescue mission.
