Cross River State chapter of National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPON) has called on members of the association to steer clear from acts that were capable of discouraging the peaceful co-existence of members of the association.
The association’s chairman Comr. Bassey Edet Okon gave the charged while fielding questions from journalists shortly after being re-elected as state chairman of the association in a re-sheduled election which held yesterday in Calabar.
Okon charged members of the association to shun rancour, work together with him as a team in order to take the association to enviable heights as team work was the only surest way to achieve success.
Earlier, in his post election speech, Edet said,” In line with the electoral guidelines of the association, the Electoral Officer and Acting General Secretary of the National body, Comrade Ibama, A.S conducted a free and fair elections into eight office in which State Chairman and 6 others emerge unopposed, with only one office contestable”.
When asked to comment on his perception xoncerning the internal crises which almost crippled the mutual relationship which once existed among members of the association before the conduct of election, Edet averred that though the crises was bad, but on the other hand, it “presented opportunity to learn and understand from the milieu of diverse opinions as well as the nature of relationships and roles played by various stakeholders while the crisis lasted”
He said he has extended an olive branch to aggrieved members who had left the association due to one grieviances or the other to return back to the fold so as to join join hands with him so that the association can be returned to its lost glory.
He lauded staff / members of the association for remaining steadfast, resolute and resistant in the face of several powerful hostilities that sought to entrench an alien contraption on the union in absolute contempt of the union’s constitution.
Edet commended the Director General DG, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu and management team for thier neutrality and advisory role played throughout the crisis period which almost crumble the union.
