Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, is to head a 12-man Taskforce on the enforcement of ban on public gatherings and places of worship in order to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, which was made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt Tuesday.
According to the statement, the committee’s inaugural meeting will hold on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Government House, Port Harcourt by 11:00am.
Other members of the taskforce include; the Commissioner of Police, the Garrison Commander, 6 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Air Force Commander.
Also on the list of members are; the Naval Commander, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the State Director, Department of State Services.
Others include; the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the Chief of Staff, Government House and the Commissioner for Health, while the Commissioner for Information and Communication will serve as secretary.
The statement reads in part: “Rivers State Government has set up a 12-man Task Force on the enforcement of ban on public gatherings and places of worship in order to check the spread of coronavirus.
“The Task Force is headed by His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Governor of Rivers State.
“The Task Force will hold its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, 25th March, 2020 by 11am at the Government House, Port Harcourt. Members are advised to be seated by 10.30am.”
