The Institute of Corporate Adminstration (ICA) has honoured the Clerk of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Oluwuyi Mustapha, as the ‘Icon of the Institute’ for his distinctive and professional performances as the Clerk of the important legislative committee.
The award was bestowed on Oluwuyi at a well-attended 2017 Corporate Executives Recognition Dinner at the Top Rank Hotel Utako in Abuja, which recorded the highest number of awardees in the annals of the reputable and prestigious institute.
The director/chief learning officer, Dr. G.C. Onyekwere, who welcomed awardees and guests to the event, charged them to be distinguished in the administration world.
He described the major factor militating against the growth of Nigeria as poor quality manpower across sectors, and not corruption as widely believed.
“While the country is blessed with long list of educational institutions, individuals with high degree of professional certification, but when benchmarked, you discover something is still lacking in contending with their counterparts in other countries ranging from artisans to professors.
“There is a gap we need to fill and that is what the institute does, by organizing high caliber seminars across the country and around the world and exposing people to the need to sit up to the challenges of management, leadership and the challenges of administration,” Onyekwere said.
Meanwhile, Oluwuyi, who was born in Gbongan town in Ayedaade local government area of Osun state, is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management, and currently an Assistant Director (Legislative) in the service of the National Assembly.
