As Nigeria celebrate its 60th independence and Abuja Municipal Area Council at 36 “tag growing in a digital ward, the Counsellor, representing the Wuse ward and deputy majority leader, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Mathias Aliu has empowered small scale traders with cash gifts to Boost their Businesses.
He said the essence of the empowerment was to celebrate the country’s 60th Independence and the area council’s 36th anniversary with his people by donating cash gifts of N10,000 each to petty traders in his community.
Aliu while presenting the gifts at the council’s secretariat yesterday, said he decided to celebrate this day with my people so that they will know that I hold them in high esteem, adding that empowering the small scale business owners, like the tea and bread sellers, fruit sellers, small kiosks owners with N10,000 will go a long way in eliminating poverty in the community.
“I want my people in Wuse ward to know that we will continue to serve them better,” he said.
One of the beneficiary, Mrs Aisha Saidu appreciated the councillor for the kind gesture and advised other recipients to use the money to boost their businesses.
Another beneficiary, Mr Rabiu Rabi, a ‘mai shayi’ seller, also appreciated the councillor and promised to make good use of the cash gift.
Mr Andrew Ugwu, Senior Special Adviser to the Chairman on Tenement rate, applauded the councillor for the donation, adding that this will make the people know that politics is good when we elect the right people and those who have the love of his people at heart.
