No fewer than 150 Catholic priests and reverend sisters were yesterday vaccinated against COVID-19 in Cross River State.
The state commissioner for health, Dr Betta Edu, lauded the priests who converged in Bekwarra LGA in Cross River State for the exercise.
Edu thanked the priests and the leadership of the Catholic Church for allowing their members to participate in the vaccination exercise organised by the state Ministry of Health.
She urged the leadership of the church to speak to members of their congregation to make themselves available for the vaccination exercise so as to defeat the pandemic.
Edu commended the exceptional leadership of the Catholic Church in the state, especially in the continuous support towards the health care delivery in the state.
She said their action has shown strong leadership by dispelling all myths and fake news around the COVID-19 vaccines.
She stressed that the vaccines are not harmful but only provide protection for individuals against attack by COVID-19 pandemic.
