The Cross River State commissioner for Information and Orientation, Pastor Rosemary Archibong, yesterday said despite all odds, at 50 years of existence as a state, the state is still waxing strong in all spheres of development.
This is even as a former military governor of Kwara State, and chairman, Central Planning Committee of Cross River State 50th anniversary celebration, Col. P.A.M. Ogar (rtd.), said the state has every cause to celebrate her golden jubilee.
According to Archibong, in a press briefing heralding activities to mark the event, Cross River has sustained her character of hospitality, among other indices of developments, over the years.
She said at 50, the state has every reason to be thankful to God.
“There was need for thanksgiving and celebration for our tenacity. We lost our oil wells, and Bakassi was ceded, yet we did not go to war.
“We have sustained our character of hospitality, hosted international tournaments, carnivals and the state has produced some of the best in the world in all areas of human endeavours. We have every cause to celebrate,” she said.
