Following the shutdown of Delta state over the COVID 19 pandemic, Jeddo, Ughoton, Ugbokodo, Omadino and Obodo communities both in Okpe and Warri South local government areas of Delta state have continued to laments absence of electricity supply by the authority of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC in the areas.
The communities lamented that BEDC have vehemently refused to give them power supply despite paying bills promptly.
Some of the residents of the affected communities who spoke to LEADERSHIP alleged that BEDC officials are requesting for certain amount of money to be paid before they can power the communities.
They are calling the management of BEDC headquarters in Benin to urgently look into their plight and do something urgent, adding that with no power supply the sit at home order is becoming unbearable as social lives in the areas have totally collapsed.
A resident, Mr. Eugene Chukwurah said, “In a week BEDC only give the entire cluster cities a five minutes jack up light and immediately jack it down which makes their services in that area non effective.”
“The Jeddo is housing the Nigeria Air Force, The Counter Terrorism Police Unit also known as Red Beret among others despite the security formations present in the area BEDC do not care about supplying to the area.”
