The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Garrison has successfully conducted a two-day capacity building seminar on defensive driving techniques for DHQ drivers and personnel in Abuja.

He further explained that the synergy between the Armed Forces and the FRSC will be further strengthened, while already established spirit-de-corps among them will equally receive a boost.

While speaking on the defensive driving techniques, the Assistant Commandant, FRSC, Mr Samuel Egwuatu whiling explaining the fundamentals involved in road accidents urged the participants to always observe road traffic signs, signals and marks while driving in major and minor road as well as highways.

The Deputy Route Commander, Mr Olakunle Adekunle in a lecture: The overview of the Highway Code, noted that 85-90 percent of auto crashes were mainly caused by human factors.

Other lectures delivered during the seminar include driving under special conditions, sharing the road with other road users, preventive maintenance as well as the management of fatigue and stress emanating from driving.

Both resource persons advised personnel to always engage in defensive driving, with the observation of various road traffic signs, during and after the yuletide season.

They also urged intending drivers and motorists to ensure that they pass through the learning process and also obtain their driver licenses and other vehicle documents from FRSC offices in order to prevent road accidents.

The two-day capacity training seminar was organised in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) aimed at further boosting the professionalism of its drivers to strictly adhere with the global standard of defensive driving skills.
