Folabi Ojekunle, has said that clubs owners and football stakeholders should not underestimate the capabilities of Nigerian coaches at the lower leagues.
Ojekunle who holds a UEFA B Coaching License, while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sports said the coaches at the lower leagues are capable to deliver at the world’s biggest stage if they are given the opportunity.
“There are lots of good coaches that has never been given a chance to prove themselves, if they are given all the support, they can deliver at the world’s biggest stage.
“We need to start giving our local coaches a chance not just at the club levels but even at the national teams.
According to the former ABS Ilorin gaffer “looking at Coach Deji Ayeni of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, is a good example, He has so far showed the world his tactical ability of a good coach since he took over the team and we want more coaches like him in the helm of affairs” he said.
On his chances of leading a club ahead of the start of next football season, the former Tottenham Hotspur scouting coach said “I am trusting God on an undisclosed clubs that have contacted me for breakthrough this coming season, negotiation is still ongoing, Nigerians will be inform when every agreement is reached” he concluded.
