With the colossal and deserving rise of Afro Music over the last few years, it’s clear that Duprie is not one to rest on his laurels as he continues to the push the boundaries of where his soundscape can go.
Cameroonian born Damen Priestley Dume known professionally as Duprie has made another strong stride into the music industry kicked off the second half of 2021 with the release of his much-anticipated Track Le Ndem. Duprie who already has two singles on the airwaves is showing no signs of slowing down.
The United States based Afro-pop/ RnB Singer and Songwriter is surely dynamic talent that needs to be on your radar. Due to a blend of traditional influences, contemporary culture and pervasive Afropop that has been channeled by Duprie into his unique sound with lyrics in English, French, Pidgin, and ethnic languages earned him a place in the frontline of artists who will further the Afropop cause with an appeal to both French-speaking and Anglophone audiences while gathering a catalogue of hits.
The smooth Afropop track titled ‘Le Ndem’, which is centered around breakup and recovery is delivered entirely in French which comes as a complete switch-up to his previous single ‘Playboy’ released just a month ago featuring Ahkan and produced by Paris Beatz.
Formed by the prolific Cameroonian producer Phill Bill, Duprie’s strong vocals and melodious tunes came to play as it flowed with the song’s slow-paced throbbing beats, pulsating, hip-grinding sound that sets the track apart.
Speaking on the new release already making rounds, he goes ahead to explain the inspiration behind the song. “I chose that title because it is an accurate depiction of what the song is about. Ndem; a contextual slang commonly used in Cameroon means mistake in the context of the song. This little is appropriate as the song is about heartbreak, recovery and avoiding the same mistake”.
Speaking on when we are to expect an EP, Duprie says that he would quench that crave before the year runs out, “I am currently working on my next project which includes the release of two singles between September and October followed by an EP in November. That is the plan, at least for the rest of the year. I have some projects for 2022 but no concrete plans have been made yet because we would like to focus on our short-term goals first”, he says.
The artist is destined for stardom, with his current track doing the numbers and has so far garnered over 10,000 plus streams across all platforms. His fans and all music lovers can testify, Duprie does not create ordinary music. One only must listen to any of his songs to see this fact. He is pure talent with a good music background, and this reflects in his lyrics and sounds.
With two more singles set to drop in August followed by an EP in December, Duprie has been busy and judging from his delivery so far, there is a good reason to anticipate more from the Cameroonian singer.
