Edo’s Development My Main Business – Okpebholo

Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, yesterday declared that his primary business in the governance of state is to bring development  by embarking on people’s oriented projects.

Governor Okpebholo spoke after inspecting several on-going projects as part of activities to mark his one year anniversary.

Okpebholo inspected the Adesuwa junction fly-over, the 32 kilometers Benin-Sapele highway, completed Army Day Secondary School, Internal roads in Ogheghe Community, 23 kilometres old Benin-Sapele highway, construction of Oba Erediauwa road, construction of Ekiuwa-Ugbowo road amongst others.

At the Army Day Secondary School, Governor Okpebholo said he would ensure all the classrooms are connected to off grid solar power as well as provide adequate security.

Addressing journalists, Governor Okpebholo said the projects was to ensure Benin City is beautiful.

According to him, “As you can see we are working and the money does not come from my pocket.

“The money is given to us to work and for us the idea is to beautify our state to make it a modern city where everybody can come and wine.

“I have no other business here than to develop the city and build new roads for our people to enjoy. That is the essence and that is why you are seeing all day and night we are working. When we are sleeping, we are thinking it.

“When we are sleeping, we are dreaming it. There is no other job I am here to do than to develop Edo and that is what we are doing. That is what you have seen today.”

Special Adviser Project Monitoring, Phoebe Williams-Bello, said compensation would be paid to affected landlords at the Adesuwa junction.
