Telecommunications company, Globacom, recently went home with a basket of awards at the 2021 Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival.
The president, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Steve Babaeko, noted that LAIF Awards is the biggest award platform in the nations advertising industry, adding that it recognizes and rewards creativity in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the chairman of LAIF Awards Management Board, Lanre Adisa disclosed that the 2021 edition of the awards received over 350 entries from a total of 21 Agencies.
The data grandmasters paraded television and radio commercials which were adjudged the best in the industry. The medals included 5 silver and 5 bronze respectively at the award ceremony held at Landmark Event Centre in Lagos last week, where Globacom was honoured for Creative Television Commercials, Press Advertisements, Outdoor and best use of Digital and Social Media Content.
Its Biker Mechanic, in which Nollywood actor Kelechi Udegbe, and actress Eriata Ese showed the power of Glo 4G LTE won two bronze medals in Film LAIF Telecom Product and Services and in Digital and Mobile LAIF Telecom Product and Services awards just as Feed Your Eyes, another popular TVC from Glo won another bronze medal in Outdoor LAIF Telecom Product and Services category.
Two silvers medals went to the company in the Press Craft Original Photography award which celebrates the quality of photograph used in the press advertisement and in Telecom Product Services Award. Its Children’s Day Press Advertisement won the medal in the two categories while two more silver medals were garnered through its Roaming Advertisement in Press LAIF Telecom Product and Services as well as Outdoor LAIF Telecom Product and Services.
Another commercial tagged Find Your First Jay Jay which showcases the power of Glo 4G won a silver and bronze medals. In the TVC, a young boy, after many attempts succeeded after using the Glo 4G to invite his father’s hero, Jay Jay Okocha as a surprise guest at his dad’s birthday celebration. The commercial bagged silver and bronze medals in LAIF Telecom Product and Services category and in the Film Craft Best Use of Digital and Social Media Content categories respectively.
The Loeries Craft Certificate, a Giant Film for cinematography from South Africa was also awarded to the company owing to the brilliance of its Glo Commercial, ‘Street Football”, which shows several young footballers who started dribbling a ball from one location across many locations in the country’s commercial nerve centre and ended at the stadium where they met Odion Ighalo, their football hero who is Nigerian international striker who currently plays for Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia, who appeared on the screen beaming with smiles while the youngsters who were too excited to see him all giggled and smiled.
