South-south group under the aegis of South South People’s Conference (SSOPEC), has condemned the former President Olusegun Obasanjo for declaring Nigeria a failed state and trying to President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
The group in statement signed by his National Chairman, Prof Sotonye Amakiri, and made available to newsman on Friday in Abuja, noted that President Buhari personal reputation for incorruptibility has survived his time in office among Nigeria leaders.
Amakiri said that Nigerians elected President Muhammadu Buhari as their president in 2019 indicating that his four years in office, from 2015 before 2019 election has good record.
According to him, “President Muhammadu Buhari has boosted investment in agriculture, and infrastructure projects, and has oversaw a rise in oil production in the south, eventually bringing the economy out of recession.
“The president has improved in security in the north east. under his watch, Nigeria Military retook territory from Boko Haram militants that had been fighting to overthrow the government and create an islamic state.
“Nigeria today is not failed state, but a nation that is courageously tackling it’s challenges and building a solid infrastructure that will serve as the basis for socio-economic development,” he said.
The group further said that the former president has descended so low from being a Commander-in-Chief to a “Divider-in-Chief”.
Adding that President Muhammadu Buhari took office at a time when some parts of the country was occupants by territory including the capital city of Abuja.
