The President, Gbagyi Women Market Association, Gosa, Mrs Ladi Danladi, has blamed the FCT Administration over the destruction of their properties worth millions of naira during the demolition of the Gosa Market on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
The woman leader, who arrived the site of the demolished market in company of some women traders, when the management of the Human Rights Commission led by its executive secretary, Mrs Oti Ovrawah visited
the scene of the event, said that she was beaten by the security task force with four of her children presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
“I have recently collected loan from the bank worth hundreds of thousands to invest into my business which has been our source of livelihood, but these people came unannounced, last Saturday and started demolishing and vandalising our properties. They did not have any human face in their actions. When we wanted to resist their actions, they resorted into violence, beating me up in the presence of my children and injuring us all in the process.”
The FCT Minister and the FCDA are not fair to us, this is our ancestral land, they are coming to dispossess us of it without adequate information nor compensation. We know they want to give this land to some people. We therefore demand the compensation of the valuables they destroyed and the recovery of our land”, she said.
