Ahead of the Sports federation elections, the South-west representative on the board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) Adura Olalehin, has called on the Sports minister, Sunday Dare to rescue the federation from does who don’t have the best interest of developing the sports.
The former Nigeria boxing head coach made the passionate appeal while briefing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, he said the lack of good leadership was the reason behind Nigeria’s absence in the boxing event at the last Olympics Games in Japan.
The All African Games medalist said the last administration didn’t do enough to develop the game adding that any effort to bring previous administration back will further underdeveloped the sports.
“Boxing game did not make it Olympics made me sad and the last administration didn’t do anything to make the country qualify for the Games.
“The former administration cannot be proud of any boxer that was discovered during their eight years reign. The only one produced in the last 6 years is Efe Ajagba. Right now, we are getting it wrong again. Yesterday, we have the list if people that want to participate in the election and this morning, we have a different name and surprisingly, tonight, we have another list.
“The Federation don’t have original hand glove, quality punching bag in preparation to participate in any international competition. So we need a good leadership who will turn the fortunes of the administration for the better” he concluded.
