The federal government has assured University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom of more infrastructures to encourage effective teaching learning and research
The Senior Special Assistant to President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang gave the assurance at the weekend while commissioning a Mini Water project at the University of Uyo main campus Nsukara Nwaneba road in Uyo.
He said that the water project, a Federal Government initiative was to ensure provision of clean drinkable water for the students.
Senator Ita Enang, who said that access to clean water and adequate sanitation has been a great challenge to most institution of higher learning in the country, explained that the Federal Government would not relent in its quest to reverse the ugly trend.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president assured the institution of the federal government readiness to assist in completing some of the uncompleted structures within the University.
‘’ This water project was facilitated and executed through the Cross-River Basin Development Authority CRBDA under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources I therefore cannot take glory for it ‘’
The vision of president Muhammadu Buhari administration in supporting Universities in the country is to ensure that when the door of education is opened to the teaming youths the prison doors could as well be shot’’ he stated.
He commended the authorities of the University for their contributions to the development of education in the country and urged them to do more.
Earlier in his address the Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo Professor Enefiok Essen thanked the federal government for the project.
He said that provision of drinkable water for student and the entire University has been a major challenge adding that the institution needs over 3million naira to reticulate water within the university.
