The federal government has called for application from senior officers in the mainstream, federal civil service of the federation to fill up the vacancies created by the exit of several permanent secretaries, LEADERSHIP has exclusively gathered.
A circular from the office of the head of the civil service of the federation, with reference number: HCSF/CMO/EMD/012/IX/88, dated 5 June, 2017, headlined: “appointment of permanent secretaries in the federal civil service” said the plan is to commence the process of selecting replacement for the permanent secretaries that have retired.
The circular that was obtained by our Correspondent yesterday said consequent upon the vacant positions, only those that attained salary grade level 17 as at 2015 are qualified to apply.
“Officers in the Mainstream, Federal Civil Service; who attained the substantive rank of Director on Salary Grade Level 17, by 1st January 2015 (i.e. 2years back) are eligible to participate,” the circular read in part.
A very senior director of the federal civil service who is in the know but asked not to be named told LEADERSHIP in confidence that apart from the over 20 vacant positions of permanent secretaries in the civil servicet, “16 others are retiring this year”.
The circular was sent to Chief of staff to the President, C-inC, deputy chief of staff to the vice President, all ministers/ministers of state, secretary to the government of the federation, special advisers/senior special assistants, the chairman and federal civil service commission.
Others on the distribution list are: all permanent secretaries, the chairman, police service commission, accountant general of the federation, auditor general of the federation, surveyor general of the federation, chief registrar, Supreme Court of Nigeria and Directors’-general and chief executives of parastatals/agencies.
The circular that was signed by permanent in the head of the civil service of the federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan requested the above listed offices to forward the list of substantive directors on SGL 17 in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies, their confidential and personal files, twenty copies of Curriculum Vitae and evidence of state of origin, which must be submitted latest by 10: am on Friday, 23rd of this month.
According to the circular, the applicants will be tested on basic training and test on ICT competency in word processing including, sitting for a written examination among others.
