UK based artiste Gabriel ‘G Flamez’ Ehigie has called on Nigerian youths to get more involved in governance and the affairs of the nation by taking more active roles in politics.
G Flamez made the call in his thank you speech after being presented with an award as “EMERGING ARTISTE” of the year by the Progressive Union of Nigerians based in Malaga, Spain.
Gabriel said that for so long the youth have been taking a back seat in politics and governance. This call comes on the back of the endsars protests last year. “The youth not participating in politics doesn’t help the representation of the youth in the corridors of government. He therefore called on the youth to register as card carrying party members so they can be in the position to run for elective offices.
G Flamez further went on to state that showing interest in the affairs of the country and getting involved in politics and/or governance is the best way the youths can ensure they will be part of decision making in Nigeria.
He called on the youths to register for permanent voters card (PVC) so they will be eligible to vote. He said that even though not everyone must/can run for elective office, voting is the constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen and the only way to make sure qualified candidates are elected into office.
