Tobi Akinwale

iGaming Writer and Editor, Leadership.ng

"I write for readers who are trying to make sense of an industry that moves fast and operates across dozens of markets at once. My job is to turn research and testing into something clear, honest, and useful."

Education

Tobi Akinwale studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos. There, he built a strong foundation in journalistic writing and media ethics. He later studied Translation Studies at the University of Geneva's Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (FTI).

Career Path

Tobi started out covering general news and business stories. He was drawn to topics about regulation and how rules change from country to country. iGaming became a natural fit. It is an industry where laws, player habits, and products differ by market.
Over the years, he moved from writing single platform reviews to editing coverage across many markets. This meant learning to think beyond one country at a time. He began coordinating a larger, multilingual reporting effort.

What He Does Now

Today, Toby reviews casino and betting platforms and tracks regulatory changes across Europe and beyond. He works closely with in-market testers and analysts. They test platforms and gather research. Toby takes findings from testers and analysts and shapes them into articles readers can trust.
"Every market has its own rules and its own tone," he says. "My job is to take what our testers and analysts find and turn it into something useful."

Beyond the Byline

Outside of work, Akinwale follows how gambling laws differ across countries. He believes clear information protects players. In his free time, he reviews testing notes from regional teams and reads about payment trends in the industry.
