Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) in collaboration with Abuja printing giant, Marvelous Mike Press (MMP) have perfected plans to launch Nigeria’s historic golf book titled, ‘Who is Who in Nigeria Golf’.
The book, which will be unveiled with Pro-am Golf tournament next year February, will offer one giant leap into golfing history in Nigeria since the game was first played at the Sapele Golf Club in the present day Delta State in 1897.
The 500-colour-page book highlighted individuals, who worked tirelessly for the growth of golf game in the country. It featured the golfing profile of 250 Nigerians, who over the years, have rendered selfless service to ensure rapid growth of the game.
It is through sheer effort of these people that over three million Nigerians now play the game.
‘Who is Who in Nigeria Golf Book’, put together by Nigerian foremost golf writer, Tony Akhigbe, is expected to enjoy wide circulation among golfers in West African countries and beyond.
The author in a statement said that, “Specialised copies will adorn the shelves of world golf body, Ancient and Modern St. Andrews in Scotland and the United States Golf Association, as well as major golf clubs across the globe.
The introduction of the book is written by the president of NGF, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola while the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi wrote the Foreword.
“This is a big moment for the game of golf in Nigeria”, Oyinlola said. “A book that will serve as a Hall of Fame to golfers is most welcome. It shows that those who are helping our golf grow are never forgotten.”
