Barely 24 hours after the national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) resolved to adopt indirect primaries in nominating gubernatorial aspirants across the country, a governorship aspirant of the party in Gombe State, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, said he would accept the outcome of the party primary in the state, whichever way it goes.
Mailantarki, who made the declaration on Friday in an interview with newsmen shortly after returning from his campaign tour across the 114 wards in the state, said; “I am campaigning enough. I am doing all that is necessary in preparation for the election. From our tour, I know my people love me, but I will leave my fate to God,” Mailantarki said.
Speaking on his expectation of the party primaries, he revealed that they have held series of meetings with the party’s leadership and they have assured them of a free, fair and transparent primaries. Based on that, he will be ready to keep his personal interest aside and inject his resources to ensure the victory of the party in the state.
“As far as I am concerned, if the primaries are free, fair and transparent, and I fairly lose, as a loyal party man, I will accept the result and support whoever emerges from APC to ensure an APC government in the state.”
