Taraba State governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku has flagged off the construction of a thirty kilometer Wukari- Tsokundi road in Wukari Local Government area of the state.
Ishaku, in a statement signed by his deputy chief press secretary, Mr. Iliya Bekyu Akweh yesterday in Jalingo,said the contract would cost N5.8 billion.
He said “The construction of this road is expected to be completed within one year and is a fulfillment of the governor’s campaign promise to the people of the area.”
Governor Ishaku reiterated his administration’s commitment towards delivering the state from its economic backwardness, noting that provision of roads across the state becomes imperative to achieve the set objectives.
Governor Ishaku explained that since assumption of office,his administration has prioritized provision of road network, agriculture and power supply to turn around the fortunes of the state.
He assured citizens of the state that his administration was determined to reposition the state for the betterment of all.
He informed that the contract for the construction of Wukari- Tsokundi road was awarded to a chinese firm Wiz China Worldwide Limited.
Governor Ishaku appealed to the people of the state to give his administration maximum support and cooperation to serve them better.
“The flag-off of the Wukari-Tsokundi road and Lacheke-Pantisawa road in Yorro Local Government earlier flagged off last month have indicated that the Governor was religiously serving the people by redeeming his electioneering campaign pledges,” he added.
