A coalition of civil society organisations and youth groups in Nigeria has said that Zamfara State under leadership of governor Abdul’aziz Yari, based on development indices in the country has positively impacted all critical sectors in the state.
This was contained in an assessment of the state government under the leadership of Governor Yari, a product of feedback from the masses of Zamfara State and made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday.
The national convener, of the youth groups, Solomon Adodo, said that the governor has placed the welfare of the people on prime pedestal to ensure efficient service delivery system.
Adodo said indices beginning with education, infrastructure, information technology, agriculture and the health sector in the state have shown that the state government has performed credibly.
“Presently the state government has constructed and commissioned over 500 blocks of classrooms across the 14 local governments in the state alongside a fully equipped ICT teacher’s capacity training facility in the state capital.
“It has commissioned several power generation projects including the 2.5 MVA 33KV/11 substation in Anka town in the state to boost electricity supply and aid commercial activities within the state.
“Provided safe drinking water in all local government areas by eradicating water borne diseases hitherto prevalent. Some projects include the N636m Kaura-Namoda water treatment plant N6.7bn contract for the construction of a water treatment plant in Talata Mafara, the report said.
The national convener also said that the state government has built roads with over 50 years life span to link all local government councils and the state capital thereby promoting commerce and productivity.
He added that job creation for the unemployed youth has also occupied the front burner of the state government using agriculture and other innovative vistas to achieve same.
