Some religious leaders from Christian and Muslim faith under the umbrella of Coalition of Inter Faith Prayer Group have called on the bandits and terrorists to repent from their criminal ways and seek God’s forgiveness for a peaceful Nigeria.
The clerics and their followers who offered their prayers yesterday in Abuja with the theme, “The Wisdom of God in Such a Time as This”, joined forces together seeking God’s intervention for the country to overcome its current security challenges for a peaceful nation.
While offering special prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari and the Armed Forces, senior pastor of Yoke Breaker Church, Abuja, Bishop Ugo Ugokwe urged those breaching Nigeria’s peace and unity to desist from their evil ways and embrace peace or be ready to face his wrought.
“If they refuse to stop their evil ways, I pray that God will disappoint them and before the end of 2022, there’ll be confusion in their camp, God would disappoint any group that is gathering against the peace and unity of Nigeria,” Bishop Ugokwe said.
Leading the Muslim prayer, Imam of the coalition, Aliyu Hussaini, similarly appealed to the bandits and terrorist to lay down their arms, repent, seek Allah’s forgiveness and abandon the ways of people who are leading them astray.
He said, “they should genuinely repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness of their sins because the door is open for repentance before their time on earth come to an end because what they are doing is destructive and very bad”.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP at the event, organiser of the National Day of Prayer, Abdullahi Isa Karim of Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki Movement (GRS), Abuja chapter, said the organisation was inspired by the need to foster peace in the country through prayers and God’s intervention for a lasting peace and unity.
He said “pray for Nigeria and believe in her because what you don’t believe in doesn’t work for you”.
Also speaking, a Fulani peace ambassador and activist, Amb Abdul Bouga tasked those troubling the country’s peace to be law abiding and promote peaceful co-existence among one another.
