Following the emergence of Hon Dennis Idahosa as the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate, a socio-political group, the Edo Accord, has pledged its support for the party in Edo State ahead of the 2019 general elections.
It said that its support for the APC in Edo stemmed from the party’s ability to give room for young people to aspire to greatness.
Vice chairman of the Edo Accord, Mr Flyn Imariagbe, spoke when the group paid a solidarity visit to the candidate of the APC for the Ovia federal constituency seat, Mr. Dennis Idahosa.
Flyn said the group was sure of victory for Idahosa in Ovia despite his rival, Omosede, being the incumbent lawmaker and daughter of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Bénin Kingdom.
He stated that Idahosa paid his entire salaries as commissioner in Oshiomhole’s cabinet, to youths in various communities to enable them go to school.
According to him, “Idahosa has proven to be a man with a large heart. Until the emergence of the APC, there was no hope for young men.
But APC brought out gift of young men like Idahosa. The gift of open hands.
“He wants others to profit from the available resources of the country. His contesting with an incumbent lawmaker in the opposition does not matter. What matters is the credibility and ability to perform.
“The incumbent has been tested and known to fail. There is no evidence to show that we got what we expected from the representative. As a Commissioner, he paid his salaries to youths in various communities to ensure they go to school. We are sure of victory for Idahosa.
“The Idahosa we know was not born with silver spoon. He trekked the street of Iguobazuwa and today he has succeeded. Democracy is not about my father is rich or my father was a governor. If the people rally round you, you are bound to succeed. That is not a problem. What matter is the vote of the people that counts.”
