A Civil Society Group, Mobilization Against Corruption and Impunity in Nigeria (MACIN), has appealed to the chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu to issue certificate of return to the winner and senator-elect representing Imo west senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha.

The executive secretary, MACIN, Joseph Okonkwo who made the appeal during a press briefing held in Abuja, said Okorocha deserve the certificate of return  after defeating his closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),John Onyereri with landslide votes margin.

Okonkwo, while congratulating, President Muhammadu Buhari for his landslide victory at the presidential election, he called on him to use the apparatus of his good office to recall the consciousness of INEC to restore the mandate freely given to Okorocha, as dully Senator -elect.

According to him, “Okorocha has played a critical role in the sustaining of the Nigeria democracy. He should be pampered as one of those who did not Only financed and sustain the APC as a political party in Igbo land but one of the die- hard Buharists in Nigeria.

“It’s our prayer that The Office of the National Chairman, INEC should see this action as a setback to Nigeria’s Democracy and rescind its decision and restore forthwith the mandate given to His Excellency,  Rochas Okorocha, as dully Senator- Elect of the Federal Republic, representing Imo West District by his people.
