Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), in collaboration with MaCaw Energy Services Limited, has donated various livelihood support items to several military formations in Rivers and Bayelsa States as part of its corporate social responsibility outreach and continuous stakeholders’ engagement.
The formations visited included the 26 Support Engineer Regiment and 29 Battalion, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt; Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Soroh and the 16 Battalion Garrison in Bayelsa State.
Items donated comprised a total of 2,000 bags of rice and other essential goods distributed across selected security formations. Each bag, according to officials of the companies, contained practical items such as rice, torches, raincoats, bags, and water bottles.
Project Manager of MaCaw Energy Services Limited, Udoka Anyabolu, who coordinated the delivery, told journalists that the donations symbolised appreciation and partnership.
Anyabolu said the initiative focused on strengthening engagement with security agencies and community partners who contribute to the safety and stability of Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
“The objectives are to recognise and support the ongoing efforts of security agencies protecting national energy assets; reinforce collaboration and goodwill between PINL, MaCaw, and host communities and to enhance community visibility and promote sustainable engagement across operational areas.
“The initiative is driven by a shared commitment to promoting activities around the protection and preservation of national assets, while encouraging positive behavioural change among locals to strengthen community support for critical energy infrastructure,” he added.
Anyabolu further stated that the outreach was structured to hold four times annually, reaching different zones and security institutions each quarter to ensure continuous engagement and visibility throughout the year.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary formations, the Commander of NNS Soroh, Bayelsa State, A.O. Akinbanmi, thanked MaCaw Energy Services Limited and Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited for the gesture.
He noted that the initiative demonstrated effective collaboration between government security agencies and the companies, as reflected in the zero infractions recorded in the area for several months.
The commander appreciated the donation, saying it would motivate officers and men to continue giving their best in securing oil and gas infrastructure within their areas of responsibility.
Also speaking on behalf of officers and men of the 29th Battalion, Bori Camp, the Administration Officer, Captain K. Lawal, expressed the appreciation of the officers and men of the battalion to PINL for bringing this kind of support as a show of appreciation to the troops deployed to various pipeline infrastructure locations.
“This shows the cordial relationship that exists between the soldiers deployed to various PINL locations and the company’s management. We appreciate this gesture as recognition of our role in ensuring that pipeline vandalism has stopped in the Niger Delta.
“We assure PINL that our troops will continue to give maximum cooperation and provide security to their personnel, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure zero incidents of pipeline vandalism and oil bunkering,” Lawal said.
The CSR outreach forms part of PINL’s continuous stakeholder engagement framework, coordinated by MaCaw Energy Services Limited. The initiative focuses on strengthening collaboration with security agencies and community partners who contribute to the safety and stability of Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
