Unknown Gunmen have killed about 11 persons and injured 30 in an attacked on a community in Birnin Gwari Local Government of Kaduna State.
LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that the gunmen who carried out the attacked on Janruwa community, also kidnapped many residents of the area and set some house ablaze.
According to a resident, Abubakar Korau, the gunmen stormed the community at about 11: am and carry out the attacks that lasted for about two hours.
“They killed 11 persons, injured about 30 persons and also kidnapped lot of people. Some of the injured persons have been taken to Kaduna for medical attention,” Korau said.
He added that the gunmen stormed the community with sophisticated weapons, shooting sparodically.
A source who pleaded anonymity said the armed bandits laid seige Janruwa community around 11: 45 and opened fire from several locations.
It was not clear the mission of the armed bandit, but other sources say they were on revenge for the killings of their gang members by local vigilantes.
The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who reacted to the incident, condemned the killings.
He said, “I received the news this afternoon of massacre of people in Maganda district of Birnin Gwari local government in Kaduna State. The bloodshed stands condemned. My condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire people of Birnin Gwari.”
