Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris has flagged off township roads project in Jega under Jega local government area in the state as part of his administration’s commitment to modernise urban areas and promised to extend the project to other urban areas.
Speaking during the flag off on Monday, Idris promised to extend such projects to other urban areas in the 21 local government areas of the state.
He said, the essence of awarding the roads contract was to ease transportation and movement for motorists and pedestrians in the Jega town which he described as the major commercial urban area in Kebbi State.
He added that the roads when completed will also reduce the incessant accidents in Jega and its surroundings which had become a serious problem to the people and government of Kebbi.
Governor Idris urged the people in Jega to cooperate with construction firms in order to execute quality job that will be beneficial to them.
He also urged the contractors to ensure they execute quality job as contained in contact specifications.
