Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has complied in full with the directive on DisCos to suspend the new tariff.

This is in line with the Federal Government directive that the recent new tariff be suspended to give room for further consultation and finalisation of negotiations with the organised labour which had threatened to embark on strike.

The 14-day suspension of the tariff is to take place from Sept. 28 to Oct 11, 2020

In a statement issued by its head of communications, Ibrahim Shawai, KEDCO said prepaid customers who purchased electricity tokens from yeateedaywill receive value based on the old tariff while post-paid customers will see the value of the old tariff reflected on their next bill.

“Also, customers who have migrated to the new tariff will need to load a key-change token on their meter to enable them activate their meters for the updated tariff before loading their token units.

“Customers can request for a key-change token
through our customer care portal- customercare.kedco.ng or visit nearest KEDCO offices or call 070055551111

“However, customers who have not migrated to the new tariff should go ahead and buy units and load as they do not need to generate a key-change token” Shawai added.

He said KEDCO is committed to the course of ensuring that customers across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states continue to benefit from all incentives or directives given by the Authorities in a timely and equitable manner.
