Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has confirmed that he will attend the annual LEADERSHIP awards scheduled to hold on September 9, 2021.
Governor Abdulrazaq disclosed this when the management of LEADERSHIP Media Group, presented him with a letter of invitation for the award in Abuja, yesterday.
The governor, who also expressed delight at his nomination as the “2020 LEADERSHIP Governor of the Year,” said the recognition would motivate his government to serve the people more.
The governor promised to strengthen the state government’s relationship with LEADERSHIP Media group. He also tasked the media to occupy the social media space with credible reporting which they are known for.
He said, ‘‘The founding chairman of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, late Sam Nda-Isaiah of blessed memory, contributed immensely to journalism in Nigeria. We believe his legacies will be kept alive.’’
Presenting the nomination to Abdulrazaq, the vice chairman of LEADERSHIP Media Group, Mike Okpere, said the management of the media organisation appreciates the governor for his value for excellence.
Okpere said the late chairman of LEADERSHIP Media Group, Mr Nda-Isaiah, was always commending the governor for his good works in the state and for his simplicity.
He also said the board of editors of LEADERSHIP Media Group had a meeting in November, 2020, a month before the passing away of the founding chairman, who also chaired the meeting, where the decision to confer the governor with the award was taken.
He told the governor that the organisers look forward to receiving him at the event in September.
Also speaking, head of story, Bayo Amodu, said the company had been innovating as a way of setting the pace in today’s journalism. According to him, part of what the company has done is the launching of its podcast studio, Last Word Studio, in June, which has already been attracting positive reviews in and outside the country.
