President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, assured the people of the Southwest that the on-going construction of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, will be ready for commissioning before the end of this year.

President Buhari, speaking yesterday, at a campaign rally that was held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, made it known that Lagos-Ibadan expressway will be ready for commissioning before the end of this year.

He said, “The road and rail networking project is going to boost the economy of the southwest and Nigeria as a whole when completed. Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, is one of the cities that will benefit directly from that road and rail project when completed.

“I have made it mandatory for your son, Raji Fasola, Hon Minister for Works, Land and Housing and his counterpart in ministry of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi, to make sure that those projects, both Lagos-Ibadan expressway and railway projects be completed before the end of this year.”

“I urge you all to go back to farm come this rainy season, because last two rainy seasons, you all did well on the farm and this has boosted our resources. We did not record much on rice importation in the last two years, and it is because we are committed to boosting our domestic farmers so that they too can have a sense of belonging in our government and that is the reason we put a stop to rice importation in Nigeria.

“We are committed to the wellbeing of the Nigerian masses, we will do more in the area of roads, power and so many other things but we need your support for all these to come to reality. Make sure you cast your votes for APC so that the good work can continue.” President Buhari stressed.

In his short address, the Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, urged people to vote in President Buhari and vote out the oppositions with their index finger.

He said, “you all know President Buhari as an honest man, that can be trusted at all times, we should use our index finger to vote for him at this forthcoming elections, to sustain N-power program, home grown feeding programme, and other projects”.

Speaking on behalf of the states governor present, the host governor, Sen Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, said the coming general election is a battle between the retrogressive and the progressive.

He said, “This coming election is going to be an election between the progressive minds and the retrogressive. It is an election between the agents of progression that are ready to build and the agents of retrogression that are ready to destroy. It is going to be an election between the darkness and the light but I am very optimistic that we will all cast our votes for President Buhari and Prof Yemi Osinbajo because they are agents of progression that mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians.”

The APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in his goodwill message urged people not to allow anybody to lie to them but they should be focused and shun any information that is not genuine as regards the forthcoming general elections.
